Ian holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of London and was awarded
his doctorate at the same university for studies in relation to plant carbohydrate
chemistry.
Ian joined BRi in 1983 initially working in the Product Quality area,
where he worked on various aspects of flavour, and foam formation.
In 1986 he took responsibility for nitrosamine analysis and for the development of improved ATNC analysis methodology at BRI. In 1990 Ian became responsible for mass spectrometry and other food safety analyses. Ian is currently Head of the Analytical Development team. With more than 15 years experience in his specialist field, Ian is a leading international expert on contaminants and food safety in malting and brewing, and has worked on several industry and government bodies. |
